Dog Dangers: Everyday Drugs That Can Make Your Dog Sick

The medicine cabinet can be a very dangerous place for your dog. When a pet is sick there are lots of owners who look there for something that could ease their pup's discomfort, but that could spell death in many cases. Several common human medications can be VERY toxic to dogs. It's important for cat owners to know what they are, so you can prevent any potential problems with your dog.

Before I say anything else, the best advice I can give you is to NEVER give your dog any medication without the advice of your veterinarian. Keeping that in mind, the following articles are a very informative read for those who have wondered about the effects on dogs, or in case your cat gets into any of these medications. Depending on the dose and frequency, these can be toxic.

Click on the links for more information on each:

Ibuprofen (e.g. Advil)

Acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol)

Aspirin

Another article that may be helpful is Your Dog's Medicine Cabinet. This will tell you what is safe to use and what you need to have on hand. If you don't have time to read it now, print it for later or keep it in your dog's file.

I hope this information helps you keep your dog safe.

P.S. - Remember, before giving your dog any type of medication or supplement you should speak to your veterinarian.
